At the end of last year my grandma was very sick. I would go over to her house and clean every other week. Sometimes I would go grocery shopping with or for her when she wasn't feeling up to going. One day when Steve and I were just visiting with Her, she began to cry and asked us, if when she was gone if we would please move in to her house and take good care of it until the family was ready to sell it in a few years when the market goes back up. Seeing as how we were living under the good graces of Steves parents- in their basement, we graciously accepted. Let me just tell yuu, we are very grateful to be able to live here, and have been very welcomed by our new ward. It has been a bit of an adjustment, because to me, this will always be my grandmas house. I still sometimes walk in and expect to hear a sweet "hello" from the family room, only to be swung back to reality. This house is so wonderful and we are so grateful for the blessings in our life. For the sweet love of my grandma Ann and for her generosity in asking us to be the ones to live here. We are definitely learning what it will be like to own our own home with all the costs that come from a home and not a little apartment but are happy to have all the wonderful space and to be able to welcome many Friends and family into our new place.
Some people have asked for a little tour, so if you cant stop on by- here ya go
These are kind of in a random order cuz I was trying to upload them from my iphone, but oh well- Just one thing real quick- I cant take any credit for the paint- my cute Grandma had great taste ( helped by my mom) and had everything already painted beautifully.
here is the kitchen- I love having so much cupboard space, double ovens and a huge pantry. It is glorious.
Here is the dining room-
This is what we like to call the "East Wing" we don't go in there too often because we all live on the west side, but people are always welcome to come and stay with us and have your own Wing to be in- it is equipt with a big screen tv, its own bathroom and a queen size bed.... And lots of space if you have kids too :)
This is the family room/ computer area- this is right off the kitchen, everything about this house is very well lit with natural lighting and with a big open floor plan. I love it.
Here is my salon- and it is up and running, fully equipt with a sink to wash your hair- Hoorah! no more washing in my kitchen sink everyone..... So call me and lets play hair dresser!
This is the main bathroom- Gabe happens to love the jetted tub, but the jets are a little strong so he only likes them for a minute before he gets swept around the tub spinning in circles.
Here is the chubbas room, we will soon be moving him into a big boy bed so that he can be well adjusted ones the new one comes....
Sorry about this picture, I couldn't get picasa to cooperate with me on this one- but whatever. This is the master bedroom/our work out room. It is rather spacious so we have our weight set and treadmill in there when we wanna get our exercise on. The master bathroom has a sweet shower, if you want to see it- you will have to come in person, same with our closet. It is the size of a small apartment. I love having a huge closet, all of my clothes are hung and I can see them all, it really is glorious.
The living room wall was made for my poppy painting I found at a yard sale two years ago... It was a $200 painting, and yes I got it for 10 bones.... So sweet... I love it, and the coffee table- was found on the side of the road, we sanded and stained it and turned it into a beauty. All the other furniture in this room belongs to my mother....
And this is our entry table.

I LOVE it, you lucky girl! It looks wonderful! I say we make a salt lake trip devoted to seeing this beautiful house, your cute family and have a lady's day with you, me, mandy and your mom...and J and steve can do all sorts of man stuff. :) Yes?
ReplyDeletesuch a great house, how wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI like the entryway table a lot, I wish mine had drawers. Ya Grandma Ann had such a NICE house! :) I didn't realize when I was there that it had so much natural light, but in all but one of these pictures the lights are off and the rooms are completely lit, so cool.
ReplyDeleteSpot the pineapple...
ReplyDeleteShed a few tears while looking at the pictures of the house, I am glad that you love it as much as your grandma did. I sure miss her.
